Store Bits: papers, BBDs, windows, mentions, novel journals and more!

Time for a few store updates:

Tiemen holding Het Parool featuring Tiemen

First of all, we were in the papers a few times the past month.  None other than our Tiemen made the front cover of The Parool!  He was one of 4 Amsterdam booksellers featured in their article titled ‘Wie zijn de mensen die ons de boekwinkel in kunnen lokken?’

The Parool also ran a piece about where better to buy books than in a book store, and famed author Herman Koch (The Dinner) mentioned us as his all-time favorite store.  “If I lived around the corner I would visit every day.”  Thanks Herman, we’re honored!

Another big thing is that there are now Blind Book Dates in The Hague again!

We’ve had to refresh the entire shelf at least three times already since we put them up at the beginning of March, that’s how fast they’re going.  You all are a bunch of adventurous readers. 🙂

The Amsterdam Windows Team put together a beautiful tribute to four female authors: Joy Williams, Lucia Berlin, Valeria Luiselli, and Clarice Lispector.  More pictures can be found here.

The Windows Team also put together two windows for Dutch Comic Con 2016!  Are you coming?  If so, come say hi to us at the booth!  That is, if you can tear yourself away from the absolutely cracking Speakers Corner put together by Tiemen and Jitse and Rick.

Simone spotted some Novel Journals.  They might seem ordinary, just a notebook with a literary cover, but if you look closer (closer still!) you’ll see that the lines you’re writing on are the novel itself.  O.o  Now available in The Hague; Simone has stocked Pride and Prejudice and The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, but there are more that we can order..

Some stock highlights as sent in by my Amsterdam colleagues Jilles, Peterl and Rick, respectively: a rainbow of yogis (I think that should be the new collective pronoun for yogis, don’t you?), Campbell Soup mugs, and a new book from the Music Section: Motown: The Sound of Young America.
