Store Bits: Amsterdam Mamas Fair, Book Darts, handmade books and Book Drive treasures

Our Shirley and Daria were In The Wild at the Amsterdam Mamas Christmas Fair earlier this month.  Karina Schaapman, whose Muizenhuis has finally been translated into English as Mouse Mansion, signed her book and did some story telling.  One audience member had a first edition of the Polish edition of Muizenhuis to sign!  Also, the kids all seemed to love our popcorn machine…  🙂  Here are a few pictures of Karina in action (click to embiggen):

Simone is happy to report that Book Darts are back in stock in both stores!  We have sleeves of darts, and tins of them.  And in case you were wondering: Book Darts are very subtle metal pagemarkers.  Perfect for the office supply junkie in your neighbourhood…

Simone, our resident bookbinder, also has some of her own handmade notebooks for sale.  Her third line of ten notebooks has finally made it to Amsterdam (nrs. 21 through 30 on this list), after the first one in The Hague sold out almost immediately, and the second one there now only has nrs. 11, 14, 16 and 19 left.  The demand is outpacing the supply, but you can also check some of her other handmade projects online on depapierhandel.com.

And finally, we made the mistake of looking into these copies of Le Morte D’Arthur that were donated to our BetterWorldBooks Book Drive (we will be accepting books until January 5th!), and we got all misty-eyed with nostalgia: “American Discount Den Haag,” from 1992 and 1993.  *sniff*
