Well, here we are, the last post of ABC’s Favorite Reads of 2012! I hope you have enjoyed our recommendations – they have all been made with passion and a lot of pleasant memories of the joy that each book has brought us.
Part Blogmistress is traditionally reserved for those of us that work on this blog. Sadly you won’t find Hayley’s Top 5 here anymore though, since she left us earlier this year (she does write for us now and again though!). Still, Ester and myself (Sophie) are trying to fill the void as best we can! Ester has taken over Tweeting duties, and besides prettying up your feed there with her calendar model shoots she also buys the books for the Manga/Graphic Novels, Film & TV, Animals/Nature, Horror and Philosophy sections, and the merchandise and calendars, in The Hague. I have worked on this blog since the beginning, and I write the monthly News Mailings now. I also buy the books for the Romance, Military, Military Fiction, Crafts and Audio Books sections in The Hague.

Ready for a new entry in ABC’s Favorite Reads of 2012 series? There will be new titles, old titles, magazines, Dutch books, games, fiction, non fiction, anything and everything we read and liked in 2012. We are as diverse as our individual choices and that is what makes ABC unique!
Part VI features Tiemen, Joe and Our-Maarten-of-the-No-Lists. Tiemen is Amsterdam’s Science Fiction & Fantasy buyer. Joe is the original ABC The Hague crew, and now works mainly with the Espresso Book Machine there. Maarten, as regular Blog readers will know, is not fond of lists, but always shares them anyway. 
Also, he is the buyer of the Business, History (except for North America and Europe), Intelligence, Political Science, Social Science, True Crime, Controversial Knowledge, and Magic & Occult sections in Amsterdam.

ABC’s booksellers don’t just sell books: as well as being voracious readers, almost all ABC staff members are personally responsible for buying the books for one or more sections in the stores. That means you’ll always find someone who can put exactly the right book in your hands when you need it. We asked our buyers for their tips for the best gifts for the upcoming holiday season, and they came up with some great ones: new books, classic books, magazines, games, merchandise, and stationery.

And yet another installment of our Favorite Reads of the Year! Here are Part A, Part B, Part C, Part D, Part E, and Part F.
These favorites come from Shirley, PeterL, and Renee. Shirley left us many years ago, but has happily returned to the fold this year; she now works our administration and helps out around ABC Amsterdam, too. PeterL is ABC Amsterdam’s Horror, Manga, and Gay & Lesbian buyer (and hopefully over his True Blood obsession by now). Renee is ABC The Hague’s Poetry and Tattoo books buyer, and has read ALL of the Science Fiction & Fantasy section’s books. Srsly.

These favorites come from Ester, Jouke, and Tom – all ABC The Hague staff, as it would happen. Ester is the buyer for the Philosophy, Horror, and Manga/Graphic Novels sections, and of course our marvelous Calendar Girl to boot (assisted by Calendar Dog Tessi). Jouke is the Business and Mystery/Thriller books buyer, and a firm favorite with the daughters of blogmistresses. Tom buys the books for the Local Interest, Travel Guide, Languages, and Spanish section, and will generally astound you with his selection of store music, too.
