Trade-In Day at ABC Den Haag on November 2nd

Thursday, October 18th, 2012

It’s that time of the year again:  ABC Den Haag will accept your old fiction paperbacks on Friday, November 2nd, 2012!

Bring them to the Treehut on our first floor from 11 – 17 hrs.  Not only will you get some reclaimed bookshelves at home out of this, but ABC Gift Certificates as well!

Here’s the deal:

  • We accept all genres of fiction, including science fiction & fantasy, romance, crime and chicklit.
  • We will also accept your old graphic novels.
  • We do NOT accept non-fiction and children’s books!
  • We pay in ABC Gift Certificates, with which you can pay in both our stores. They are valid indefinitely. Please note that we do not pay in cash.
  • If you have more questions, please mail dh@abc.nl or call 070 – 3642742 and ask for Ester.

We prefer mass-market paperbacks (pocket books) but will also accept large paperbacks and hardcovers.  Depending on the resellability of the books offered, it is up to us to decide how much we will give you for your books.  We retain the right to refuse non-resellable books.

Please note that ABC Amsterdam does NOT have Trade-In days anymore – only ABC Den Haag.  See you on November 2nd!

What We’re Reading: Den Haag

Well, what some of the ABC Den Haag crew are reading, in any case:

Ester: Redeye by Clyde Edgerton

Tom: View with a Grain of Sand by Wislawa Szymborska (although he’s undoubtedly reading it in its original Polish)

Nyjolene: Geisha of Gion: The True Story of Japan’s Foremost Geisha by Mineko Iwasaki, translated by Rande Brown

RonZ: Son of Perdition by Wendy Alec

Joe: Naamah’s Blessing by Jacqueline Carey (he also mentioned that his favorite book of the year so far was One Day by David Nicholls)

Sophie: A Dance with Dragons by George R. R. Martin + Stitch by Stitch: Learning to Sew, One Project at a Time by Deborah Moebes (yes, I’m reading this as much as I’m working through its projects)

Simone: The Marriage Plot by Jeffrey Eugenides (an Advanced Reader’s Copy, lucky woman)

What’s Wrong With This Picture?

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

ABC Den Haag got its very own street art this morning!

While we know you love us, and all, chaining your bike to our grate is taking it a bit far, don’t you think?  :-)

P.S.  If you know or recognize this bike, the police at Jan Hendrikstraat now have it in their custody.

P. P. S.  In further bike news:  all the dead and forgotten bikes around ABC Amsterdam were finally removed by the city council and can now be found at the AFAC (click here for their website)(in Dutch).
