When style and fashion journalist Neil Boorman set fire to a whole mountain of his own branded possessions, from shoes to clothing, even his TV set, he struck a match, some would say, for an entire generation of disaffected fashion victims. This epic gesture was borne of years of consumer addiction. So he plotted a project whereby he’d live a whole year n London without any brands at all.
