US Voter Registration at ABC

To help facilitate voting in the upcoming US Elections, ABC will once again host regular opportunities for US citizens living abroad to register to vote.

Voter registration in Amsterdam takes every week on Thursday from 19 – 21 on the second floor.
The first upcoming dates are August 23rd (today), September 6th, and September 13th.  The last date is October 18th.  Please note there will be no registration next Thursday, August 30th!

Voter registration in The Hague takes place every week on Thursday from 19 – 21 on the ground floor.
The first upcoming dates are August 30th, September 6th, September 13th, and September 20th.  The last date is October 25th.

As in previous election years, Voter Registration is organized by the Democrats Abroad – but you can register to vote at ABC regardless of whether you are a Democrat, a Republican, or an Independent!  ;-)

Here are a few important details:

  • Voter registration is open to all US citizens, aged 18 and over, living abroad (not just in the Netherlands, but also any US citizen that happens to be passing by).
  • If you can’t travel to Amsterdam or The Hague, head over to www.votefromabroad.org to register.
  • To ensure that voters get their ballots, they need to re-request it every election cycle. Due to recent changes in law, voting districts are no longer required to save voters’ information. So even if voters automatically received their ballots in the past, there is no longer a guarantee that this will happen now. Further, most states will already send out ballots in September, so the time for voters to request their ballots is now!
  • You can find voting deadlines per state here.
