Saw the Movie? Read the Book!

Just two movies based on books this month:

The Dark Knight Rises, directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Christian Bale and Michael Caine in their third appearance as Bruce Wayne/Batman and Alfred. Based on a series of graphic novels written by Frank Miller and published by DC Comics in 1986, in which the author presents us with a darker and more mature version of Batman’s Gotham City.

In order to protect Harvey Dent’s reputation, Batman assumes responsibility for his crimes and is hunted down by Gotham City’s police. He disappears from Gotham and returns 8 years later. He then meets the mysteriously attractive Selina Kyle and new nemesis Bane, who is planning to destroy the city.

Woody Allen: a Documentary, directed by Robert Weide.

Weide follows Woody Allen’s career from the beginning until his last successful film Midnight in Paris.

This documentary is not really based on any book, although there are a few titles about Woody Allen or written by him that might interest both the newcomer and the hardcore fan of this great director: Complete Prose, Masters of Cinema: Woody Allen and Woody Allen on Woody Allen.
