VS2012 – the biggest events about the American elections in the Netherlands
Campaign agency BKB, the Melkweg and the Stadsschouwburg in Amsterdam organize events about the upcoming American elections, under the name of #VS2012. Political junkies can expect speeches, discussions, musical performances and campaign analysis. BKB has had three sold out events this year, with guests like Russell Shorto, Gary Weaver and Bas Heijne. In the next months, they will organize live broadcasts of the convention speeches and debate watching parties at the Melkweg, with American food and film and music until late at night.
The biggest #VS2012 events will take place on the night and morning of the presidential elections: the third edition of the President’s Night in the Melkweg and an All American Breakfast in the Stadsschouwburg on the 6th and 7th of November. There will be a discussion of the battle between Romney and Obama with high profile journalists, politicians, campaign strategists, writers and many others, and there will be theatre, movies and lectures in multiple halls of the Melkweg. From midnight until early in the morning, BKB will await the presidential pick of the American people in the big hall of the Melkweg, which will transform into a media center with live broadcasts from Fox and CNN, and connections with foreign correspondents. The next day, the president elect will be discussed and analyzed whilst enjoying fresh coffee and a hearty breakfast. National and international influential speakers will commentate on the result, discuss the consequences for the position of the USA in the rest of the world, the global economy, transatlantic relations and the cultural world. Musical and theatrical acts will complete the All American Breakfast.
Keep an eye on the BKB event page on Facebook for more information: fb.com/vs2012campaignwatch (you’ll need to log in to view it). It is highly recommended to buy tickets in advance, as all former events have been quickly sold out. Tickets for the President’s Night and the All American Breakfast can be bought already via Ticketmaster.
Please note that all events will be partly in Dutch, partly in English.
The American Book Center will be there on November 6th with plenty of presidential literature to choose from!
