Espresso Book Machine Demos in The Hague
Come along to ABC The Hague on Thanksgiving Day to see free demonstrations of the Espresso Book Machine in action. Our print-on-demand experts will be on hand to show you how we make books to order, and answer all your questions about self-publishing at ABC. Sessions take place at 12 noon, 3pm and 6pm in our store. No need to reserve – just pop along and watch!

Young Guns Open Mic Night in The Hague
From 8 to 10pm on Thanksgiving, in the ABC Treehut in The Hague, we’ll be kicking off what we hope will be the first of many open mic nights for youngsters. More details to follow on the blog.

From 4 – 5 pm at ABC Amsterdam, join us for the launch of Tafel 18, a memoir by Nicoletta Gezzi, restaurant owner of 35 years.  See the separate post with all the details!

Join us for Thanksgiving Dinner in Amsterdam
Come to this homey annual feast, and we’ll have a delicious traditional menu to share in the true spirit of Thanksgiving!

We’ll provide the basics: turkey, vegetarian main dish, mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, sweet potatoes and corn; you’ll bring a starter or dessert to share. The cost is €20 (€5 for children under 10) including coffee and tea, soft drinks, wine and beer.

Dinner is from 6-8 pm at the ABC Treehouse in Amsterdam. Everyone is welcome but please do make reservations so we know how much food to prepare. Reserve your space on time, as we can only accommodate a limited number of people.

Blue Grass group The Blue Clay Honkers will join us for Thanksgiving dinner and preform for your musical enjoyment.

SHELLY O’DAY (1923) comes from a long line of musicians. She studied classical music and re-found bluegrass & old-time music after moving to Europe. Shelly plays with the Blue Clay Honkers and does guest appearances with various other bands. She likes skates and cats.

JAN ROEKENS (1915) has played, since 1975, with pal Arthur van Leeuwen in (among others) The Last Radio Band (country-rock), Shortwave (folk and traditional US music), The Jump (new wave), The Lime Pickles (calypso), The Muldoons (americana), The Bob Pearson Band (americana) en Jackie & The Sweet Petunia’s (bluegrass). Jan plays bass, guitar and the mandolin. He likes bikes and hats.

ARTHUR VAN LEEUWEN (1925) has played, since 1975, with buddy Jan Roekens in (among others) The Last Radio Band (country-rock), Shortwave (folk and traditional US music), The Jump (new wave), The Lime Pickles (calypso), The Muldoons (americana), The Bob Pearson Band (americana) en Jackie & The Sweet Petunia’s (bluegrass). Arthur plays mandolin, ukelele and guitar. He likes cars and hats.

NOUT GRUPSTRA (1928) has been around and plays everything from Cajun accordeon to fiddle to the singing saw. Nout has played in various European countries in bands such as The Ramshackle Stringband (jazz), Crooks & Chickenfeed (blues & calypso), Scarecrow, the $ide$how (bluegrass), and the “Rumtreiber Band”. He’s done several recordings and has composed for TV, films and theater productions. He likes bad jokes and hats.
